Saving pennies

leave a comment »

Today I learned how to save a few pennies on your electricity bill: if you do not use the HDMI output on your Raspberry Pi you can disable it completely and shave off some mA in power consumption.

  • On Raspbian: sudo /usr/bin/tvservice -o
  • On Archlinux: sudo /opt/vc/bin/tvservice -o

The power LEDS can also be switched off on model 2B and Raspberry Zero. See:

Environmental thinking applied to minute details.
